Pediatric Home Treatment

Program of Pediatric Home Care implemented by “The Smile of the Child” in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration.

The program is supported by an interdisciplinary team of the Organization, which consists of a social worker, a pediatrician, a nurse, a physiotherapist and interpreters (Arabic, Farsi, French, Ukrainian). Home visits are carried out, holistically supporting each family, based on the needs they face each time. “Pediatric Home Hospitality” refers to families with children, or unaccompanied children, who suffer from serious health problems and face various difficulties, either socio-economic, and/or regarding their medical context.

Goals of our program and team:

• Visits to the place where the family or the child is hosted or resides
• Medical and nursing operations
• Provision of physiotherapy practice, where this is deemed necessary and always with a corresponding referral from the child’s doctor
• Receipts
• Covering the cost of medical supplies, medicines, consumables, hospitalizations, etc.
• Supervision in medical matters
• Scheduling medical appointments and accompanying them
• Connecting the family or the child with social and other services
• Communication with treating physicians
• Communication and direct collaboration with housing agencies and professionals who socially support the family
• Counseling support for parents and − where deemed necessary − connection and referral to mental health structures.
