Description

The National Helpline for Children SOS 1056  is operated by “The Smile of the Child” and is available to every child and adult to provide support on issues of concern to them. SOS 1056 plays a key role in the prevention and treatment of violence faced by children (Physical, Sexual & Psychological Abuse, Neglect, Bullying, Trafficking & Trafficking). SOS 1056 is staffed exclusively by specialized Social Workers and Psychologists and is available nationwide, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Calls to SOS 1056 are free of charge from landlines and mobile phones, calling from a payphone does NOT require a phone card, while calling from a prepaid phone does not require available credits.

The following services are provided via the SOS 1056 Line:

– receiving anonymous and anonymous reports of children at risk (abuse, trafficking, unaccompanied children)

– activating procedures for the immediate provision of protection for children at risk (on-site intervention)

– activation of procedures for the care of children who have been abused and are in hospital (transitional phase)

– management of requests for accommodation of abused children in the Agency’s 11 Community Homes

– providing guidance on all matters and liaison with other services

– mobilising volunteer blood and platelet donors

SOS 1056 is also interconnected with the SAWA Helpline in Palestine, is also a member of the Child Helpline International (CHI) Helpline Network and serves as an interpreter for Arabic-speaking persons in our country. For the implementation of the above, SOS 1056 has at its disposal, 24 hours a day, the Emergency Intervention Vehicles and the Mobile Medical Intensive Care Units and Neonatal and Children’s Intensive Care Units, which the Organization has at its disposal.

In addition, SOS 1056 is interconnected with 112, the European Emergency Number.

Logistically, the SOS 1056 is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and software and operates in 12 interconnected call centers as 1. This ensures a maximum waiting time of 12 seconds for each call! It is worth noting that “The Smile of the Child”, wanting to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the SOS Line 1056 under any circumstances, has an Emergency Call Centre at the International Airport  El.Venizelos (Disaster Recovery Area).

“The Smile of the Child” has been operating the SOS 1056 Line since 1997, and in 2007 the Line was recognized as a National Helpline for Children SOS 1056.
