Red Umbrella Αthens - Sex Workers Day Center

“Red Umbrella Athens” is a Primary Agency for the Prevention and Empowerment of sex workers and is an initiative of the Greek Association of People Living with HIV “Positive Voice”, the Prevention and Sexual Health Centers “Checkpoint” and the Greek Liver Patients Association “Prometheus”. “Red Umbrella Athens” aims at the empowerment and social integration of sex workers in Greece and the support of equal political and individual human rights without discrimination and stigma. “Red Umbrella Athens” provides free prevention and empowerment services to sex workers at the Day Center that has been operating since March 2016. It is noteworthy that RUA operates under the scientific supervision of the Department of Psychology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. The services provided are free of charge and include: sexual and reproductive health counseling, psychological and social support, legal support, condoms and pregnancy tests, HIV/Hepatitis B &C testing and direct linkage to health services, harm reduction counseling, provision of safer use material (syringes, etc.), provision of clothing and other items, artistic & recreational activities, beauty services (makeup, haircut, manicure).

Participation/referral information

The Day Center offers anonymous and free walk-in services every Wednesday 12:00 – 20:00 (200, Michail Voda str.). No appointment is required. There is no need to complete an official referral form.
