Description

Research results and clinical experience demonstrate the need of timely detection of women with mental disorder or who are susceptible to develop mental disorder during perinatal period. For that reason since May 2014 FAINARETI has established the nationwide Perinatal Mental Health Helpline 210-9319054.

The Helpline operates from Monday to Friday 9:00 – 21:00 and is staffed by specialised healthcare professionals, psychologists and midwives.

Provided Services

  • Psychological support – assessment.
  • Information and counselling on pregnancy and postpartum (preparation for labour, breast-feeding, newborn/infant care etc).
  • Referral to Public Mental Health Services in the area of residence of the patient, when needed.
  • Information to the healthcare professionals on perinatal mental health issues.

  • Pregnant women, puerperas, mothers, fathers, partners, husbands.
  • Broader family and social environment of the couple.
  • Single-parent families.
  • Healthcare services/bodies/professionals.

Principles of operation

The telephone line provides information and psychological support through active listening, respecting the code of conduct on protection of personal data of patients. Secures the privacy of data and respects the right to anonymity.

This action is part of the programme “PROMOTION OF THE MENTAL HEALTH OF THE PREGNANT, THE PUERPERA AND THE NEW MOTHER” and is funded by EU Structural Funds, Operational Programme “Human Resources Development”, NSRF 2007-2013.
