A Step Forward - Reception Center for Asylum Seekers, Vulnerable Women and Mothers with Children

Description

The operation of the structure is part of the co-financed project entitled “One Step Forward-A Step Forward”, under the “Asylum and Immigration” program of EEA Grants, managed by Sol-Crowe in collaboration with HUMAN RIGHTS 360.

The facility has a total of 44 seats and houses vulnerable applicants for international protection, single women and single mothers with their children.

On a daily basis, the basic material needs, and personal hygiene needs are covered.

The installation has WiFi internet connection for all the beneficiaries.

At the same time, integrated services of health, psychosocial support, legal counseling, interpretation, language learning, empowerment, creative employment and supportive teaching are provided on a daily basis, while in cooperation with the Municipal Nursery of Athens and local schools, children are enrolled in the education system.

The facility has specially designed areas for feeding and leisure activities while it is located at a distance from a Metro station.

Regarding the prevention, management and treatment in the context of the Covid epidemic19, Doctors of the World implements specific procedures in accordance with the relevant instructions of the Ministry of Health and the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

A basic condition for integration is the Covid19 test with a negative result within 72 hours before admission to the structure.

Inclusion Requirements:

The applicant must be an asylum seeker, a single woman or a single parent with a male child 14 years of age and a female child regardless of age, a person who is self-employed or accompanied by a relative who takes care of

  • Covid-19 test (PCR) 72 hours before placement in the structure
  • Certificate for airborne diseases and related chest x-ray
  • Dermatological assessment
  • Psychiatric assessment
