The Open Polyclinic of Doctors of the World operates with the main goal of providing primary health care as well as social and psychological support to people belonging to vulnerable social groups, such as homeless, destitute, uninsured, immigrants without any administrative documents and any other immigrant with limited or zero access to the National Health System. Within the operation of the Open Polyclinics, the Social service and the department of Psychological support are included. The Social Service aims to address the social problems and difficulties of both the people who are hosted in the structures of Doctors of the World and those who are addressed to it through the Open Polyclinics. More specifically, the Social Service undertakes the collection of social history (recording of social data and requests of served), the provision of social support services, social counseling and support (informing of served about their rights and opportunities for access to the public health system and social assistance ) and information on issues of education, training and vocational guidance.
