Description

The Youth Empowerment and Self-Reliance Program (17-23 years old) is completing its operation.
It is noted that individuals currently served by the program will continue to receive support from IRC employment counselors until the beginning of the summer.


The IRC Youth Empowerment and Self-Reliance Program (17-23) is targeting young adults and children from the age of 17 with a refugee background, residing in the urban area of Athens in child protection schemes, shelters for adults or precarious settings. It aims to facilitate a smooth transition to adulthood through a holistic approach, which includes:
  • Psychosocial support (and referrals to psychological, medical, legal services, etc.)
  • Job counseling (and link to employment, vocational training and educational opportunities)
  • Guidance in housing search
  • Group training sessions on topics such as labor rights, interview preparation, familiarization with Greek bureaucracy, stress management, interpersonal skills development, and more.
