Description

CRS, and in partnership with local Caritas and ELIX partners, supports children in building essential Greek language skills, increasing their active participation in school, and facilitating their integration into Greek society. At the same time, the children’s caregivers receive support to better meet their children’s psychosocial needs and support their engagement in academic activities. The child-centric project builds on lessons learned from past programs, which have shown the importance of intensive accompaniment and psychosocial support in promoting integration and self-reliance. By engaging caregivers from the start of the project, CRS and project partners ensure sustainability whereby caregivers continue to provide a supportive home environment that will motivate their children to succeed in school even after they have exited the project.

In the context of the holistic approach of “Mikros Kosmos” the complementary activity “Mamathaino Ellinika” has been developed, from which mothers/female caregivers with small children have the opportunity to learn Greek while simultaneously engaging their children (aged 4-5) in activities specifically designed for toddlers. The program enables mothers with infants and preschool children (0-4) to attend the course with them.
