Enrollments in the Summer Classes of Greek & English language & Computers of ECHO HUB

The ECHO HUB Athens is a community education centre for adults (16+) in Kipseli. We offer Greek and English- language classes as well as vocational training programmes. We have available spaces in our existing language classes and computer classes during June and July. You can find information about how to enroll and exactly which classes are available below.

How to enroll

Please read the descriptions for each class carefully and decide which would be best for each individual that you would like to enroll. Please note the detailed descriptions of the classes. We do our best to place people in the appropriate level, so that everyone can make good progress. If you are enrolling several people, please send us an email at [email protected] with the following:

Beginner PLUS Computer Tuesday and Thursday 18:00-19:30 – 6 spaces
Students must already know how to generally use a computer – turn it on and off, use a mouse pad, use a keyboard, how to use the internet, how to save and download files and applications

2. English Classes:

Level A0
Monday and Thursday 18:30-20:00
15 spaces
Students know the English alphabet and phonics, basic vocabulary, are able to read, write, speak, and understand a little in English, no need for understanding of grammar

Students must be able to read simple words in English and have simple conversations, must know verb ‘be’ in present tense

Monday, Wednesday and Friday 16:15-17:45

Students can read, write, speak and listen in English about everyday life. They know the present simple and continuous tenses as well as the simple past. We introduce present perfect in this level.

Level A2

Students can read, write, speak and listen in English about everyday life. They know the present simple and continuous tenses as well as the simple past. We introduce present perfect in this level.

Level B2
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:00-11:30

Students can confidently and fluently speak, write, read and listen about everyday life as well as more abstract topics. Students can understand and use the present, past and future perfect tenses (simple and continuous).

Students can confidently and fluently speak, write, read and listen about everyday life as well as more abstract topics. Students can understand and use the present, past and future perfect tenses (simple and continuous).

3. Greek Classes:

Level A1 beginner
Wednesday and Friday 18:00-19:30
15 spaces
Students who have already learnt the alphabet and know how to pronounce all the double letter combinations (αι, ει, οι, υι, ου, μπ, ντ, γκ, γγ, τσ, τζ), who can read Greek words (even if they don’t understand them!), who can write basic Greek words, who have basic knowledge of genders, verbs: “to be”, “to have” (In general, people who have taken classes for at least 3 months)

Students who can communicate on a very basic level in their daily life in greek language, who feel confident in reading and writing words, phrases and short texts/dialogues in Greek, who have knowledge of personal and possessive pronouns, know the verbs “to be”, “to have”, can group verbs in present tense, genders of articles and nouns, nominative (onomastiki) and accusative (aitiatiki) cases of nouns (In general, people who have taken classes for at least 5-6 months)

Students who have acquired the official A1 level Greek Language Certificate, OR who can communicate efficiently in their daily life in Greek language, who feel confident in reading and writing short emails, letters, descriptions, who have knowledge of all basic grammatical points e.g. articles, pronouns, present, future, past tenses, subjunctive, imperative, adjective and noun declension etc (In general, people who have taken classes for at least 2 years)

Level A2 advanced
Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10:30-12:00
Online only (must have access to Zoom)

Students who have acquired the official A2 level Greek Language Certificate, OR who can communicate in their daily life in greek language quite fluently and who feel confident in reading and writing emails, letters, descriptions, texts on different subjects. They must have knowledge of a wide variety of grammatical points e.g. present, future, past, tenses, subjunctive, imperative, active/passive voice, direct/indirect speech, conditionals, comparative/superlative form of adjectives/adverbs etc (In general, people who have taken classes for at 2-3 years)

Level B1/B2
Tuesday and Thursday 18:00-20:00 13 spaces

Students who have acquired the official level B1 or B2 Greek Language Certificate, OR who can communicate fluently in Greek language in different situations using a wide range of vocabulary, who can confidently read and write different types of texts such as emails, letters, essays, articles on different subjects, who have knowledge of all significant grammatical points e.g. present, future, past, tenses, subjunctive, imperative, active/passive voice, direct/indirect speech, conditionals, comparative/superlative form of adjectives/adverbs etc (In general, people who have taken classes for 3-4 years)
