10 non-profit institutions collaborate to support small Civil Society organizations

10 non-profit institutions of Greece join forces once again to support Civil Society and announce a public call for participation in the 6th funding cycle of the “Points of Support” program.

The “Points of Support” is aimed at small Civil Society organizations in Greece, supporting them in the implementation of small-scale original actions with maximum social impact, in strengthening their structures as well as in developing capacities that will contribute to their sustainability.

For the new cycle of the program, which started in 2015 and has financed 119 actions with more than 40,000 beneficiaries, the Ioannis S. Latsis Charitable Foundation, the TIMA Charitable Foundation, the Bodosaki Foundation, the Captain Vasilis & Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation, the A. G. Leventis Foundation, the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Foundation, the Costas M. Lemos Foundation, the KIKPE Social and Cultural Foundation, the Hellenic Initiative Canada and the Athena I. Martinou Foundation.

The new round of the program is coordinated by the Bodosaki Foundation.

Within the framework of the 6th cycle of the program, up to 39 actions will be supported with the amount of five thousand euros (€5,000) each, which will last up to 6 months and will fall into one of the following thematic sections, which have been determined by the funders of the program:

I. Social Integration of Persons with Disabilities (Ioannis S. Latsis Foundation)
II. Support of Senior Citizens (TIMA Charitable Foundation)
III. Prevention and Promotion of Adult Health (Public Beneficial Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects – KIKPE)
IV. Child And Health (Captain Vassilis & Carmen Konstantakopoulos Foundation)
V. Combating Poverty and the Food Crisis (The Hellenic Initiative Canada)
VI. Environmental Protection:
i. Protection of Flora and Fauna in the Urban and Peri-urban Environment (A. G. Leventis Foundation)
ii. Protection of Aquatic Ecosystems: Lakes, Rivers and Wetlands (Athanassios K. Laskaridis Foundation)
iii. Protection of Forest and Other Terrestrial Ecosystems (Costas M. Lemos Foundation)
VII. Social Innovation in Small Coastal Local Societies (Athina I. Martinou Foundation)

Eligible organizations must meet the following, general conditions (for more details see Terms and Conditions of Participation in the Program):

  1. To be legal entities of a private law, non-profit nature, based in Greece (foundations, unions, associations, AMKE etc.), or Social Cooperative Enterprises (Coun.S.Ep.) of article 14 Law 4430/ 2016, as applicable from time to time.
  2. To have an annual total gross income from all sources (taxable – tax-free) of up to 50,000 euros in the tax year 2022, as evidenced by any suitable accounting document (e.g. balance sheet, balance sheet). Exceptions to the above are social care institutions for elderly people, such as nursing homes, day care centers for the elderly, etc. For this type of operators, there is no limitation in relation to the amount of income.
  3. To have completed at least one (1) year since their establishment and the acquisition of legal personality in Greece at the time of the announcement of the public invitation (i.e. for the sixth (6th) cycle they have been established until February 27, 2022).
  4. Not belong to the State or local self-government organizations, not to be legal entities under public law or legal entities of the wider public sector, as defined each time by the respective legislative provisions and in general not to fall under the jurisdiction or supervision of the State and that their action does not have a religious, political or union-professional character.

Alongside the funding, the program includes free participation of the organizations in capacity building activities, which will be financed and implemented by the Bodosakis Foundation, through Social Dynamo, the NGO hub of the Bodosakis Foundation.

The application period ends on 30 April 2023. Results will be announced in July 2023.
