International Rescue Committee (IRC)- Hellas in the framework of the “FUTURA” project and the “Asylum and Migration” program, funded by the EEA& Norway Grands, with fund operators ΣΟΛ Crowe and Human Rights 360, considering the accommodation needs of vulnerable women and their children (single-parent families with children up to 18 years old), announces the availability of 20 accommodation places, part of the already existing accommodation program for semi-independent living, which aims at their integration, empowerment and protection.
These 20 accommodation places will be in apartments in the city center of Athens. The program will accommodate adult women with their children or pregnant women in fully equipped apartments with parallel support from specialized staff, for a limited period that cannot exceed six months. Priority will be given to asylum seekers.
Given the nature of the program and the support offered, referrals will be considered for women: a) who are not in an active, unregulated psychiatric condition and b) who are not vulnerable from a current or recent incident of gender-based violence and/or are at risk/ threat from the perpetrator and/or his relatives.
The beneficiaries of the program will be provided with housing services, non-food items, psychosocial support, as well as assistance in the process of learning and preparation regarding access to the labor market, always taking into account individual needs, wishes and characteristics of each beneficiary.
Additionally, the professionals will ensure beneficiaries’ access to health services, Greek language courses, medical care, social services and mediation services with other organizations, interpretation services, legal advice and assistance, as well as support, through referrals, to other services such as creative activities, seminars, women’s empowerment groups, etc.
The main goal of the program is the overall protection and empowerment of the women and their children, not only for the time they will stay in the apartments, but also to enable them to continue their lives independently after the completion of their stay.
The project FUTURA: Fostering the Transition of Unaccompanied Children to Adulthood, is being implemented under the “Asylum and Migration II” programme, by International Rescue Committee- Hellas. The “Asylum and Migration” (Addressing urgent needs for the reception and screening of asylum seekers and for the accommodation of vulnerable groups) programme in Greece, financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, was awarded a total budget of 16,5 million euros as part of the EEA Grants 2014 – 2021. The program aspires to contribute to ensuring legal protection, support and care for the most vulnerable asylum seekers, with emphasis on unaccompanied children. The Fund Operator for the “Asylum and Migration” programme in Greece is SOL Consulting S.A in partnership with Human Rights 360.
