The We Need Books Multilingual Library collaborates with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and for the first year implements the “Supporting children to thrive” program with the aim of providing effective learning opportunities to underprivileged children. It is a program that includes remedial teaching courses and organized art workshops, aimed at primary school children who have difficulty with school and live in the wider area of Kypseli.
Children will be taught in small groups with an emphasis on intercultural education and creating positive learning experiences. The main goal of the program, in addition to improving the school performance of the students, is to cultivate their love for learning in a safe and inclusive space. The teacher will support the children in all subjects of the school, while on Saturdays they will have the opportunity to participate in creative activities such as painting and handicrafts, theater, dance, board games, STEM activities in an open space aimed at personal expression. Parents/guardians will be able to join parent groups to discuss their concerns, share knowledge and experiences.
