The IOM supports the integration and employability of Ukrainian nationals in Greece

The International Organization for Migration and the Ministry of Migration and Asylum together with the Embassy of Ukraine in Greece announced on Wednesday (13/7) the expansion of the group of beneficiaries of the HELIOS integration program for Ukrainian nationals, significantly strengthening the integration and employability support that is provided to recognized refugees and beneficiaries of international protection in Greece.

As of mid-July, an estimated 5.6 million refugees have left Ukraine and another six million people have been internally displaced.

Following the European Union’s decision to offer temporary protection to people leaving Ukraine and responding to the urgent housing needs that have arisen in Greece, IOM will support the housing of Ukrainian nationals with a rent subsidy for twelve months and support in finding housing in Greece .

About the IOM HELIOS program

Starting in July 2019 with initial funding from the European Union and continuing today with funding from the Hellenic Ministry of Immigration and Asylum, the HELIOS Integration Program, implemented throughout Greece by the IOM, aims to promote and support the integration of beneficiaries of international protection in Greek society. The initiatives and pillars of the project focus on integration lessons, supporting the housing and employment of the target populations, monitoring their integration process and raising awareness of the host communities.
