COVID-19 response

The service providers which are active in the field of support and empowerment of migrants and refugees within the municipality of Athens responded to the pandemic with dynamism, responsibility, and innovation. We share with you the relevant results from the urgent COVID-19 mapping, carried out by ACCMR!

Through the urgent mapping carried out by the Athens Coordination Center for Migrant & Refugee issues (ACCMR), important results were obtained. The mapping of services and initiatives, which is still ongoing, was carried out in collaboration with the ACCMR members and other groups with the aim of providing proper information to those working with vulnerable groups, including the refugee and migrant population, so that beneficiaries get more effective access to services. The urgent mapping was structured on the service mapping of the ACCMR platform. The process was also supported by the Communicating with Communities National Working Group, coordinated by Solidarity Now and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Thanks to the response of 102 organizations and organizations, the following results were obtained (for the period March 16 to May 4):

• 63% of ACCMR mapping services (164 services) continued to operate.
• 30 new and / or enhanced services emerged, most of which in the fields of Information, Health and Goods Provision.
• There were 108 remotely – provided services / initiatives, including online applications, helplines, phone / email use, most of which in the fields of Education / Learning, Legal Counseling and Psychosocial Support.
