Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières/MSF) is an international, non-governmental medical humanitarian organization that provides medical care to people excluded from health care, victims of violence, natural disasters, epidemics or armed conflicts. It was founded in 1971 and its actions now extend to over 60 countries worldwide. More than 90% of the organization's revenue worldwide comes from private funds. The action of the organization is governed by medical ethics and the principles of independence, neutrality and impartiality. It provides care with the sole criterion of medical needs, regardless of racial, religious or political criteria.
