The aim of El Sistema Greece is to contribute to the development of children and their social integration into Greek society, creating a musical community with children from different backgrounds, regardless of whether they are Greeks, refugees or immigrants. The El Sistema Greece program strives to offer young people a sense of a new purpose, offering choir and orchestral lessons to children of different backgrounds and backgrounds, in order to improve their lives and their sociability. Music is a universal language and a powerful tool for social inclusion. It has been proven that music education works as a method of social change and affects not only children but also their families. Our educational approach is based on the method of Venezuela's El Sistema social program, a program adopted by 60 countries around the world and recognized by UNICEF for its effectiveness in combating juvenile delinquency.
El Sistema Greece fills Athens and Corinth with music offering free music lessons to children and young people aged 5-26. To date, more than 2,500 children and young people have attended the activities of El Sistema Greece.
* The El Sistema Greece Program started in Greece in August 2016 with the joint effort of Impact Hub Athens and Anis Barnat in order to support the socially weaker children through music. As part of its joint collaboration, the El Sistema Greece Youth Orchestra was founded in Greece in October 2017. In 2018, the parties jointly decided to continue their contribution to the above purpose through two separate structures. Anis Barnat created the Non-Profit Company "El Sistema Greece" and Impact Hub Athens created an Art Community that uses programs and activities inspired by the methodology, practice and approach of "El Sistema". In this way, each party recognizes the valuable contribution of the other party and at the same time jointly preserves the heritage created by the two years of El Sistema's presence in Greece.
