Educational staff seminars and skills development sessions to support Victims of Human Trafficking with the aim of their reintegration

IOM is implementing the Specific Action ‘Educational staff seminars and skills development sessions to support Victims of Human Trafficking with the aim of their reintegration’.

In collaboration with the General Secretariat for Vulnerable Persons and Institutional Protection (GSVPIP) of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum (MoMA) and with the full support of the National Center for Social Solidarity (EKKA), IOM is organising two-day educational seminars and skill development sessions for front line workers, who are in direct contact with Victims of Human Trafficking, aiming to:

enhance the skills and capacity of frontline workers in reception centres, shelters or other facilities, that are necessary for the identification and protection of Victims of Human Trafficking.

The training sessions cover a great range of topics, including the current legal framework, NRM, provision of services, interviewing techniques, trauma informed approach, cultural mediation, referral pathways, (re)integration services and strategies.

IOM is also providing technical support to the National Centre for Social Solidarity (EKKA), which is the coordinating entity of NRM, through protection experts mainly responsible to promote through the provision of in-kind support, direct support and empowerment for Victims of Human Trafficking, in their effort to fully integrate into social life, and in particular access educational, employability, vocational training and other integration opportunities.

Moreover, IOM will improve the living conditions for Victims of Human Trafficking accommodated in shelters, sites and other facilities through the provision of equipment and other interventions of material support.

The ‘Specific Action’ is funded by the Ministry of Migration and Asylum of the Hellenic Republic – Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund 2021-2027.
