First Reception and Interpretation Unit

First Reception and Interpretation Unit is responsible for receiving, registering and directing those serving in the Legal or Social Service of GCR, as appropriate.

Communication between staff and beneficiaries is ensured on a permanent basis for Dari, Farsi, French, Arabic, Chinese, Pashto, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Amharic, Tigrinya, Bangla, Ligala, Swami Luik, Swahilikum, Kikuyu, Kurdish, Kirmancı, Sorani, Bandini

First Reception and Interpretation Unit of GCR undertakes the first contact with our beneficiaries. The interpreters, conveying the socio-historical-cultural elements that characterize each case, contribute significantly to the smooth operation of the other two Services, while also participating in visits to detention centers, courts, hospitals, refugee accommodation structures, etc. Our interpreters provide their services , in addition to Attica and Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Samos, Rhodes, Chios, Lesvos and Leros, as well as the safe zones of the Eleonas and Alexandria Refugee Hospitality Structure.

As the first station of people seeking support for GCR, First Reception and Interpreting Unit is in charge of their immediate service. In addition, beneficiaries receive primary information about their rights to the protection of personal data and the evaluation of organization services.

Finally, a significant number of students from various Greek Universities as well as from Universities abroad are interning at First Reception and Interpreting Unit in order to gain first contact with the asylum area and to become familiar with the needs of the serving population of the EU.

Τρόπος Παραπομπής/Συμμετοχής

The First Reception Service with an alternating interprofessional group consisting of a lawyer, a social worker and interpreters of various languages. It is organized in a six-step procedure, to examine requests and refer individuals to particular services of the organization.
