Description

ConnectionHub

We deliver bridging programmes to help people transition from displacement back into society.

We remove barriers to succeeding at online education by creating safe spaces for learning and through a blended competency-based learning model that  provides different types of learners with additional support.

Through our personal development and counselling sessions, we aim to equip students with personal management skills and emotional support to achieve their goals.

What we want to achieve

REFUGEES INTEGRATE SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY

Through the acquisition of relevant skills and the recognition of previous achievements and qualifications.

REFUGEES HELP SHAPE THE FUTURE

By adapting to the challenges and opportunities of a digitalised world such as information management, remote and lifelong learning, skill-sharing and digital employment opportunities.

A RIGHT TO EDUCATION

ConnectionHub supports displaced students regardless of their legal status, gender, age or ethnic identity to access digital learning opportunities.

Worldwide there are 70.8 million forcibly displaced people and although the number of those with access to education or training is unknown, education for people displaced by war, conflict and natural disasters remains a challenge (UNHCR, 2019).

ENDING THE LITERACY GAP FOR DECENT WORK AND LIFE

Through quality education and the support of learning coaches, students develop skills and gain certificates relevant to building better economic opportunities in their new home or country of origin.

While waiting for asylum, repatriation, resettlement or migration, people affected by crisis are trapped in displacement and an under-resourced short-term humanitarian response-system firefighting what often turns into a humanitarian crisis.

After months or years of displacement, crisis and uncertainty, refugees often face disadvantages as they struggle to catch up on gaps in their education and training. The loss of skill and unrealised potential runs the risk of social exclusion and a future of precarious employment and exploitation.
