"WIND OF RENEWAL" is a Social Cooperative, based in Athens. It was set up in 2014 by a group of active citizens on environmental and social issues, with the aim of contributing to the social and green economy, innovation, environmental protection and intercultural dialogue.

Its actions combine social with green innovation. One of the most innovative projects of hosting and integrating refugees was #WELCOMMON, which not only hosted about 600 refugees - mostly very vulnerable - from 22 countries, including 40 newborns, but also developed an empowerment model. Although funding through the EATA and the UNHCR concerned housing and the socio-psychological support, 'WIND OF RENEWAL' developed an integrated model of accommodation, integrated support, empowerment and skills, preparation for social development and professional integration. Hundreds of actions were organized, for the benefit of both refugees and the local community. WELCOMMON - whose operation was unfortunately abruptly stopped late February 2018, attracted the interest of MEPs, politicians from various political groups, universities, research institutes, social groups, international organizations, humanitarian organizations, representatives of municipalities in Greece and abroad.

WELCOMMON's innovative organization involved 30 employees with different profiles (including long-term unemployed Greeks, migrants and newly-arrived refugees) as well and over 200 volunteers from 4 continents. Although the hosting program continues today, 'WIND OF RENEWAL' continues and optimizes non-formal education and socio-economic integration services with the support of many volunteers from different countries through courses, training workshops, visual arts workshops, exhibitions, seminars etc.
