Athens Comics Librar

The most active and creative team in the field of comics in Greece began in March 1996 and was formalized in 2004 with the founding of the Non Profit Society, Comicdom Press. It aims at the promotion and dissemination of the 9th Art in our country.

The site was launched in October 2004 and has hosted more than 7,000 posts, including news, reviews, presentations, extras, opinion columns and interviews, always from the comics site.

In 2006, it was the beginning of the international comic festival, Comicdom Con Athens (in collaboration with the Hellenic American Union). The first domestic event of the kind, based on the standards of similar international competitions, includes to date international artists and exhibitions, sketch events, projections, workshops, presentations of new titles, shop and publishing bazaar, cosplay contest, children's program as well as Greek comics awards . Among our international guests, Milo Manara, John Romita Jr., David Lloyd, Mark Buckingham, Peter Milligan, Marv Wolfman, Chris Ware, Barry Kitson, David Prudhomme and Scott Lobdell among others. In 2015, the festival exceeded 12,000 visitors.

Since 2008, Comicdom Press has collaborated with distinguished Greek artists (Michalis Dilvins, Alexia Othoniou, Yannis Roumpoulis), with perhaps our most important contribution, the discovery and emergence of new artists such as Apostolis Ioannou, Christos Martinis, Thanasis Petropoulos, Aldo Shabani and Giorgos Tiamantas.

In February 2015, we launched (in cooperation with the Social Entrepreneurship Network, Impact Hub Athens) the Athens Comics Library, the first lending library of international and Greek comics in Athens, which, besides offering its subscribers access to more than 2,500 comics and graphic novels, performs on its premises, exhibitions, speeches, presentations and seminars.

All members of Comicdom Press are always offering volunteer work for the art we love.
