As the number of unaccompanied minors arriving in Greece, separated from their families, is constantly increasing and their need for protection and accommodation in a safe environment is high, METAdrasi has been implementing since 2015 the initiative of foster care for unaccompanied minors.

This practice has been in existence for decades in other European Union countries and it has been shown that children staying with families is the optimal option for the child’s best interests. This Foster Care activity is implemented by METAdrasi in accordance with the national law and the International Convention on the Rights of the Child in cooperation with the local Prosecutor’s Offices and authorities.

A warm hug, a tender look, a kind word, homemade food and a place at the family table, precious moments of relaxation, the sense of security… are everyday pieces missing from unaccompanied children’s life.
